A Derry councillor has welcomed plans to combat hazardous driving conditions in an area of Derry notorious for icy roads in the winter.
Sinn Fein councillor Billy Page said the Department of Regional Development (DRD) had confirmed ten salt/grit boxes will be installed in the Hatmore and Kylemore areas ahead of the winter months following a meeting with local residents.

“This decision by the DRD to increase the number of salt boxes in the Hatmore /Kylemore area will be welcomed by local residents and motorists who have campaigned on this issue for some time," he said.
