A night of tall tales and poetry is being brought to The Playhouse this week courtesy of local yarnspinner, Charlie McDaid.
The Waterside man will relate his stories of times gone by for two nights only and he is inviting the ‘more mature’ audience to join him for an evening with a difference.

“It will be a step back in time and honest to God craic,” says Charlie, who says he got into the art of yarnspinning because, he claims, he wasn’t much good at anything else.

“I am bereft of talent. I don’t play an instrument but I enjoy being on stage.

“In entering concerts down the years, I would have been called on to fill in here and there between scenes on stage and I felt that I have developed some sort of repertoire, so I developed a talent for memorising monologues.”

An Evening of Yarnspinning takes place at The Playhouse on Wednesday and Thursday, November 4 and 5. Tickets cost £5. Contact the Playhouse on 02871 268027.
