The funeral of 15-years-old Ashleigh Lynch, who died as a result of swine flu earlier this week, took place yesterday.
Ashleigh was laid to rest at Ballyoan Cemetery following a service in St Augustine’s Church.

Her funeral was attended by a large number of family and friends as well as representatives of Foyleview School, where Ashleigh was a pupil.

The teenager was a classmate of 14-years-old Orla O’Kane who died of complications associated with the virus last week.

This week an emergency vaccination of pupils at the school began.

It's since emerged that a further three pupils who were also diagnosed with swine flu have made a full recovery.

"We are all very distressed and shocked by Ashleigh and Orla's deaths," said school principal, Michael Dobbins. "The girls were classmates who started the school together and whose families knew each other." He revealed that families of all pupils at the school had been kept informed of developments.
